bium As80C. 9/6/20.
I have the honour to transmit heravità copy of a
letter from the Secretary of the International Anti-Opium
Assosistion, Peking, coverning copies of correspondence with
the India office on the subject of the Opium question.
I am not in a position to comment on the et
made in this correspondence, which deals for the most part wit
the production and consumption of opium in, and the export of
opium sfom, India, beyondrremarking that the statements mnde 1
paragraph 9 of the ¿anociation's reply to the effect that
"cultivation of the poppy in China is confined to a few diatri
only” is scarcely borne out by the report on this yearis sults
vation forwarded in sy despatch No. 483 of the 4th instant.
At the same time I venture to draw to Your Lordship's attentin
to the increase in exports from India to Hongkong during 1919,
the
The Right Honourable,
Earl Curzon of Kedleston, K.0., G.c.8.1.
etc., etc., etc.
